DRAWN FROM REAL LIFE

Everybody loves a parade, but instead of oversized superheroes floating by, Stanford’s parade is an homage to domesticated plants and animals. These humble creatures created the energy surplus which permits us to work in real estate, educate ourselves, go on vacation, and hold parades.

Over a seven year span, Stanford’s parents struggled through Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, other infirmities of age and death. Many of her works describe the courage they displayed along with their anxiety and despair. Her mother couldn’t recognize her family members, and her father’s life ended in resignation. Telling their stories has been her way to witness.

RECENT EXHIBITION: Two 4" x 6" wood blocks for Dear Fleisher, the annual
